K-12 Application Process

Hi, Future BuffSci Families! BuffSci is a free public charter school serving students in grades K–12. We welcome applicants from Buffalo and surrounding districts. Admission is open to all students—no tests, interviews, or essays required.

Check Eligibility

Students who turn 5 years old by December 1 of the school year are eligible for kindergarten.

Lottery & Waitlist

If applications exceed available seats, a random public lottery will be held on April 15, 2026. Priority order:

Returning BuffSci students
Siblings of enrolled students
Children of BuffSci staff (up to 15%)
Buffalo City School District residents

Students not selected are placed on a waitlist for future openings.

Enrollment Support

BuffSci ensures equal access for all students, including those with disabilities, English language learners, and students experiencing homelessness, in line with the McKinney-Vento Act.
