Junior Career Workshop

Junior Career Workshop

Dr. Faith Durden, program manager for the ASVAB career exploration program, was our guest today to interpret the ASVAB exam scores and to conduct the career workshop for the juniors.

Dr. Faith began the career workshop by emphasizing how significant it is for high school students to choose the best fit majors and careers for themselves. She stated: ‘Adults spend almost 40 years of their lives by working, so you should be very considerate in choosing your future jobs.’
She also emphasized that job satisfaction from the jobs we choose will help us to happily wake up in the morning to commute to work.
After the juniors completed the interest survey, they were able to see their dominant personality types based on Holland’s typology.
For the next step, they were provided with a list of relevant careers for them as well as key information about the careers (e.g. employability, salary, education requirements) based on their ASVAB test scores and interest survey.
We thank Dr. Faith for the career workshop and helpful hints she gave for our juniors.
Remember the quote from Confucius: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
